Chapter 2

This photo is of the eyes of Dr. Tj Eckleburg.

These eyes are bule and gigantic, their retinas are one yard high. The spectacles themselves are yellow. Dr. Eckleburg is an eye docter, He made this billboard to fatten his practice in the borough of Queens. Unfortunatly he himself turned blind and moved away leaving his giant billboard behind. The glasses can be seen in the valley of ashes.

*The valley of ashes is a deserted city, bounded on one side of a small, foul river. The only building in sight is a small block of yellow brick sitting on the edge of the waste land.

* The glasses seem to look over the city, people going by on the train usualy stop and jus stair at them.

*The grey dust fills the air making it hard to see anything in the valley, but when the winds blow the dust out of the way the first and only thing you see is the billboard of the eyes.

He borrowed somebody's best suit to get married in, and never told me about it, and the man came after it one day when he was out...I gave it to him and then I lay down and cried...all afternoon.
