Chapter 5

Singing in the rain lyrics:
Dancin' in the rainDee-ah dee-ah dee-ahDee-ah dee-ah dee-ahI'm happy again!I'm singin' and dancin' in the rain!I'm dancin' and singin' in the rain...
Why am I smilingAnd why do I sing? Why does September Seem sunny as spring? Why do I get upEach morning and start?Happy and head up With joy in my heartWhy is each new taskA trifle to do?Because I am livingA life full of you.
*The lyrics in this song symbolize how gatsby feels is this chapter. Everytime Daisy is around the sun comes out and he is happy. But when Daisy is not around Gatsby gets sad and it starts to rain outside and the mood is very sad.
Quotes:
Gatsby, pale as death, with his hands plunged like weights in his coat pockets, was standing in a puddle of water glaring tragically into my eyes.
"If it wasn't for the mist we could see your home across the bay....You always have a green light that burns all night at the end of your dock."
"There must have been moments even that afternoon when Daisy tumbled short of his dreams - not through her own fault but because of the colossal vitality of his illusion. It had gone beyond her, beyond everything. He had thrown himself into it with a creative passion."
"Only wind and the trees which blew the wires and made the lights go off and on again as if the house had weakened into the darkness"

Chapter 3

The car symbolized Gatsbys wealth. Gatsby had the most money out of everyone in East and West Egg. He was known for his expencive cars. He would use them to transport people to and from his parties like it was a taxi. Gatsby throws a lot of parties at his house, some of the people he does not even invite, they just show up. His best car was his Rolls Royce.
This chapter also focuses on the gossip that the
people in the book spread. Almost everyone in this book have started, or contributed to the gossip.
Rumors are spread about almost everyone. Especally Gatsby. One of the rumors spread about him is that he killed someone before he moved to west egg.

Chapter 2
*The valley of ashes is a deserted city, bounded on one side of a small, foul river. The only building in sight is a small block of yellow brick sitting on the edge of the waste land.
* The glasses seem to look over the city, people going by on the train usualy stop and jus stair at them.
*The grey dust fills the air making it hard to see anything in the valley, but when the winds blow the dust out of the way the first and only thing you see is the billboard of the eyes.
He borrowed somebody's best suit to get married in, and never told me about it, and the man came after it one day when he was out...I gave it to him and then I lay down and cried...all afternoon.
I married him because I thought he was a gentleman...I thought he knew something about breeding, but he wasn't fit to lick my shoe.

The PictureIn the book "The Great Gatsby" The town is devided into two sets, East Egg and West Egg. Eggs appear in the book alot. The symbolism of eggs applies to the people of East and West egg, Hard on the outside but messy and scattered on the inside. Meaning the people in the story are not what the appear to be. To the eye they all seem like they have it together and everything is well, but that if far from the truth. Cheating, Lieing, and Rumors are only a few of the daily things that go on daily.
*On the East Egg side, the people that live there are from new money.
*On the West Egg side, the people that live there are fom old money, usualy inhereted from the family.
*The main character in the book is Jay Gatsby. He lives on West Egg. But his money is not inhereted from his family. He Made all of his fortune himself.
*Nick (the na-rrator of the story) Is Gatsby's neighbor on the West Egg.
